Le 15 Août
Dear Friends,
Today is “Le 15 Août” and as many of you know it is a very big deal in France, Spain and Italy. This is my cultural heritage, it runs deep in my soul and therefore I feel compelled to share a picture and a few thoughts with you.
Regardless of your religious beliefs or absence thereof, I submit that to honor and respect the Feminine Principle is a healthy practice. This is one of the meanings of today for millions of people whether they are fully aware of it or not. It is safe to say that for Catholics, this is “the” principal Feast of the year when it comes to the Holy Mother, the Mother of Jesus.
The Holy Mother is an archetype present in all cultures under different names and guises (or disguises), who embodies qualities such as Truth, Purity, and Tenderness. I am sure you will agree that regardless of our cultural background, these are ideals worth practicing, today perhaps even more so than ever before as brutality has been normalized in so many ways.
This picture above was sent to me today by a remarkable woman, my dear friend & mentor, the prioress of a Carmel in France. The Carmel was founded by St Theresa of Avila and is one of the most demanding spiritual paths ever. Over many decades, Mother Superior C. has consistently demonstrated to me through her words and actions that there is Light within apparent darkness.
We hope you will like this picture and the beauty it bespeaks.
All best to you all,
Véronique
